Great Patriotic War. Occupied Kharkov. Water pipe lines and a power station are blown up; bridges, houses and factories are destroyed. German authorities have imposed a curfew. Death by shooting for any disobedience. No food reserves. One million population of the town suffers from hunger and is doomed to death. Elena Chernay with two sons, four-year old Oleg and newborn Valera, fight for their lives…
